ReturnSense is a Shopify analytics app that helps merchants understand their return performance.
2. Data We Collect
We collect the following data through the Shopify API when you install ReturnSense:
Store information: Shop domain and access token (encrypted at rest using AES-256-GCM).
Order and return data: Order names, return statuses, return quantities, SKUs, product titles, and return reasons — for the past 120 days.
Customer notes: Free-text notes attached to return line items by the customer. These are stored as-is and are not linked to specific customer identities.
We do not collect customer names, email addresses, billing addresses, payment information, or any other personally identifiable customer information.
3. How We Use Your Data
To compute return analytics (return rates, SKU-level patterns, keyword frequency).
To display aggregated insights on your ReturnSense dashboard.
To improve the reliability and performance of the app.
We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising.
4. Data Retention
Raw return records: Retained for 180 days, then automatically deleted.
Aggregate analytics: Retained for 12 months.
Application logs: Retained for 30 days.
5. Data Deletion
When you uninstall ReturnSense, your store is immediately deactivated in our system. All data associated with your store is permanently deleted within 48 hours, in compliance with Shopify's GDPR requirements. You may request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us at the email below.
6. Third-Party Services
Supabase — our database provider.
Vercel — our hosting provider.
Shopify — the platform through which we access store data.
7. GDPR & CCPA Compliance
We process merchant data as a data processor on behalf of merchants (data controllers). We comply with GDPR, CCPA, and Shopify's privacy requirements. Merchants can request data access or deletion by contacting us directly.
